The power of truth

I believe that in the end the truth will conquer~ John Wycliffe

Truth is powerful and the enemy knows it, that’s why he throws everything in our way to stop us from getting a taste of it. From birth we are forced to download the lies of Satan’s sophisticated marketing scheme. He will try and consume our mind, body and soul, he will tell us to build our identity on his lies, bringing us further away from the truth. A common campaign of Satan’s is convincing women to hate ourselves until loving ourselves is classified as an act of rebellion! Ridiculous right?! We have all fallen victim to this; he has told us we are not intelligent, worthy because we are not a certain skin tone, dress size or from a certain social background or whatever else. His purpose is to steal, kill and destroy us spiritually, mentally and physically, so we are confused and forget who we really are. As I write this I’m reminded of the Lion King, (because who doesn’t love a bit of Disney!) Simba believed the lies of Scar who told him he was nothing, but the truth was that no matter what Scar said he was still a king! It was in his DNA. Only after Simba had and encounter with his Father he remembered who he was. We too need to remember the truth of who we are by looking to the ultimate truth, found in our Father God.

God’s word is truth and will defeat lies

The word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow (and truth and lies) Hebrews 4:12. The word of God is written truth when we read it, it exposes the lies we believe and causes its hold to become weaker. I have learnt that reading the word of God is a lifestyle; it must be consumed everyday the scripture declares, “people do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4). Just like physical food, the word of God is spiritual food that gives us spiritual strength and boldness to defeat the Devil. Everyday we should be reading the truth because everyday lies are pursuing us; if we know God’s word the lies will not be able to deceive us. It’s from the word where we build our identity; it tells us the truth of who we are in Christ.  Satan’s lies are filth, but the word of God cleanses us. Satan even tried to deceive Jesus in the wilderness by twisting the word of God, but Jesus ALWAYS responded to Satan’s lies with what “the Scriptures say”, Jesus knew the truth and spoke it out against him and it gave him victory.

Jesus is the example of a life lived in truth

Jesus was the Word at the beginning that became a human and made his home among us. (John 1:14) Jesus is truth, In fact he is the only way to truth he said, “I am the way the, truth and the life”. Jesus came to this world to testify the truth (John 19:37) and lead us in truth, he set us an example of how to overcome deception. Christ overcame the enemy and lived life to the fullest and even defeated the grave! Now the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you and me (babe, we are super heroes!). Christ is the reason we can live in truth and overcome lies, cling to his words read the bible and look at his example and then we can be victors.

The Holy Spirit leads us to truth

Until Jesus’s second return he has gifted us with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is truth and will lead us into all truth. The guide of the Holy Spirit is important on our truth journey, he will help us discern what the truth is when it seems unclear. Satan often disguises himself as an angel of light; his lies can appear enticing, beneficial and good! How are we as humans supposed to discern? The Holy Spirit. He will lead us in this, we cannot live in truth without him. Jesus said before he went to the Father, “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father” (john 14:12). Wow, i don’t know about you when i read the life of Christ he was thriving in truth and now because we have the helper, the Holy Spirit we can do the same or even greater! Jesus has given us the tools to be Satan slayers and defeat every lie he tells us!

Freedom in truth

Remember the Devil has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44) Jesus is the truth that has set us free so that we may have life and have it to the full. (John 10:10) We are free, the scriptures says so, if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. Let’s refuse to believe the lie’s that Satan want’s to make us slaves to; it will rob us of our joy, peace and destiny. Fight to live in the freedom of truth it is your God given right. It won’t be easy sometimes but we must understand that freedom is our entitlement as children of God!
